"The HeART Project" – SOLD OUT!

Proud members of the Youth Art Team at "The HeART Project" Saturday. The art/craft show ran from 4-8 p.m. By 6 p.m. all 24 Youth Art Team canvases sold. At $15 per canvas, that means the students surpassed the fundraising goal they set for themselves by raising $360. All together, "The HeART Project" participants raised $5000 to help equip the school in Haiti.

Night #6 – Celebrating

The students in charge of planning the night's food selection chose to serve ice cream sundaes (one interviewee told two Youth Art Team students that his dreams for the neighborhood are that everyone would get along, and that everyone would have ice cream):

Then everyone met JeanJean and Kristie Mompremier who joined us all the way from Haiti:

They shared a little bit about their work and lives in Haiti, showed off some Haitian artwork, and told students that $15 – the price of one Youth Art Team canvas – would buy enough food in Haiti for a family of six to eat for two weeks.

Finally, in honor of a job well done, the Youth Art Team received prints of their artwork along with sketchbooks, watercolors, and paintbrushes:

Night #6 – Final Paintings Available Saturday!

The Youth Art Team unveiled their paintings last night to a group of family, friends, and community members. All of the paintings will be on display at The HeART Project at Orchard Hill Church this Saturday from 4-8 p.m. Last night, the team sold 9 of their 24 paintings, putting them well on their way to meeting their $330 goal. Get to The HeART Project early... we expect these to sell out! The Youth Art Team will be there to great visitors from 4:00-4:30. Students priced their paintings at $15 each.

Night #5 – Final Preparations

After a series of ballot-casting, the Youth Art Team set a fundraising goal of $330. After doing some math, the students decided to price their work at $15 a piece. They will unveil their 24 finished paintings this Thursday at an invitation-only preview night when they will host their families and those they interviewed. Then their work will go up for public sale Saturday at The HeART Project at Orchard Hill Church – a fundraiser benefiting a community school in Haiti.

Night #4 – Busy, busy!

The Youth Art Team put their brushes to work:


Like most nights, the students started working in their sketchbooks after grabbing some dinner. Tonight they thought about the question, "What is Youth Art Team to you?":

Then students tried to learn something about working together as a team by making marshmallow & toothpick towers. The general consensus was that more teamwork and some planning would have helped them build better towers:
