Week Twelve: Landscapes

Students have been busy with the cameras and I have lost ground on the blog! I will slowly but surely fill in the gaps between Week 3 and Week 12. Until then...

The Youth Art Team meets every Sunday afternoon for eight weeks this fall, completing the second half of The Viewfinder Project. We're already halfway through the fall session!

This week students learned about landscape photography, stepping back to capture the big picture of a scene. The Youth Art Team learned how to position the horizon line in the photo frame, gaining an awareness of how it affects the overall impact of a photograph:

Last week students each photographed one building from many different angles, and we discussed how taking the time to consider an object (or a person) from several perspectives helps us to understand that object (or person) better. This week, we talked about how when we zoom way out and consider an object (or person) in the context of a larger scene, we understand even more about the role that object (or person) plays in the world.
