Youth Art Team members and grownup volunteers, families, friends, and neighbors gathered at Harvest Vineyard Church to share the students' work that began in March:
Then everyone walked to the mural where students found their silhouettes, prayed a prayer of thanks and dedication, and ended with a final "Go Youth Art Team!" cheer:
Finally, back to Harvest to eat a meal cooked by the Orchard Hill Church Chuck Wagon and served by everyone, celebrating the Youth Art Team and kicking off "Fusion," a summer of Wednesday night games and activities outside at Harvest:
Waterloo's Mayor Clark – who goes past the mural on his way to and from work and who watched the team's progress – paid a surprise visit to the team. After hearing that the Youth Art Team decided their mural would communicate love, faith, friendship, cheerful, and warm to those who see it, Mayor Clark said that if everyone in our cities tried to communicate those things to one another, our cities would be even greater:
