Before the Youth Art Team even cracked open their sketchbooks on Night #4, they reviewed the mural design proposal – a compilation of individual ideas and group decisions from the previous week's work. After viewing multiple font and color variations, the team voted. And voted. And voted. Until finally, the team agreed on their final mural design to be painted on the side of the building that faces Hwy. 63 / Logan Ave. (Final mural design will be unveiled on the blog upon completion of the mural...)
Then, the same team that priced paint and supplies on Night #2 headed back to purchase roller brushes, tray liners, one gallon of lime green paint, and two gallons of hot pink paint. One group hoped to begin painting the background upon their return, but the weather didn't cooperate.
So while that group was at the paint store, the rest of the team split up to work on small individual designs – like personal signatures – they plan to paint around the rest of the building, collating notecards and envelopes and sorting into two separate sets, and emailing the Youth Art Team's individual school teachers to tell them about their mural project:
At the end of the night, the group that went to the paint store revealed their purchases and told the team they only spent $35 – the Waterloo Sherwin-Williams donated the paint (thank you!). So after their first paint/supply purchase (more to buy as the mural progresses) combined with the cost of 600 notecards and envelopes, the Youth Art Team's expenses total about $235.
