Night #3 – Learning about Amos Ferguson and his artwork

This week, the Youth Art Team learned about Amos Ferguson, an artist from the Bahamas. His artwork became famous in many countries before he died in 2009 – the Waterloo Center for the Arts even has a collection of his paintings.

Each member of the Youth Art Team chose one of Ferguson's paintings to study. They identified shapes, patterns, and colors he used and copied them into their sketchbooks:

Then they went to work deciding how to tell a story – shared by the person they interviewed last week – in a painting using shapes, patterns, and color. Once they mapped it out, they started putting in on canvas:

At the end of the night, everyone walked around the room to check out the team's progress:
