Youth Art Team members will:
- learn about art and artists from Haiti and the Caribbean and the people who live there.
- interview city elders and discover how to translate stories through art.
- learn new art techniques and “lift up their voices” to bless our communities and people in Haiti.
- a field trip to the Waterloo Center for the Arts.
- a visit from Haitians JeanJean & Kristie Mompremier who will share photos, stories, and artwork from Haiti.
- participation in “The HeART Project” art show – a fundraiser to raise money supporting people they will learn about who live in Haiti – where they will sell their artwork alongside Youth Art Team members and other artists from around the Cedar Valley, the Midwest, and Haiti.
- make every effort to attend each meeting and arrive on time.
- participate enthusiastically.
- give students an opportunity to develop skills, knowledge, confidence and leadership abilities.
- remind students of the gifts God gave them to become the person He created them to be.
- provide a chance for students to demonstrate to people around them that they are positive contributors and caring members of our community.
Youth Art Team is hosted by the partnership between Harvest Vineyard Church (Waterloo) and Orchard Hill Church (Cedar Falls) and is offered at no charge to participants.
